Subjects studied: Level 3 Marketing Assistant Apprenticeship
Former school/hometown:
What’s next: To continue as Project Coordinator for the Hospitality Table Cornwall project
My story:
After completing her A Levels at Truro and Penwith College and deciding that University was not the right option for her, Niki completed the Marketing Assistant Apprenticeship in 2018 and secured a full-time job as a Marketing and Events Coordinator.
Two years later she now heads-up Hospitality Table Cornwall, a £6.8 million European Social Funded project, as Project Coordinator.
It’s no surprise that Niki has gone on to achieve great things as her work was shortlisted at the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards, a recognition that she feels is one of her greatest achievements, and consequently became a College ambassador for Apprenticeships.
Niki said: “I love being able to work with and manage our Marketing Assistant and get involved with coordinating marketing and event plans for the Project.
“During my Apprenticeship I helped to organise the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards. I created all sixteen of the videos for the awards ceremony and got to attend as a guest after being shortlisted.
“I also found the confidence to speak in public, talking in front of parents and future Apprentices at the College’s Open Events. This was really difficult at first, but it got easier each time and now it’s something I wouldn’t think twice about doing.
“The team at Truro and Penwith College were so supportive throughout my Apprenticeship, both as an employer and as a learning provider. I was assigned a mentor, a tutor, and a line manager, so I always knew who to go to if I had any questions.
“I wouldn’t have been able to secure my new role without my Apprenticeship and the experience I’ve gained through the College. I’m excited for what is to come in the future of my marketing career.”
