Looking to focus on something for herself, Sophie looked at opporutnites to return to education locally and discovered she could persue a Nursing career without leaving Cornwall and decided to enrol on the Access to Higher Education Nursing course to take those first steps into a new career.
Sophie said: “I just really enjoyed the whole thing, it was really, really good fun. The tutors are really good too, everyone here is just awesome.”
“I rediscovered my love of science, in secondary school I absolutely hated science, and I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m doing what I should be doing.’ But I definitely am, it’s really good.”
“I’ve got small children and I live nearby, and I couldn’t really travel anywhere else because I don’t drive, so it was perfect this was close to home and I could continue with day-day life.”
“It’s helped my confidence, I feel more confident in myself. I’ve got a place on a degree. It’s made me feel like I can do it and not doubt myself anymore.”
“ I just absolutely loved it. I’ve been a stay at home mum for about 5 years and it’s nice to just get to do something for me again”
“My children are 6 and 3 and I’ve managed to leave with lots of distinctions and still had time to do the assignments and balance homelife.”
“My advice would be, do what inspires you and what you’re passionate about and just go with it, enjoy it.”
