In her role, Louise helps Higher Education and Access students across the Truro and Penwith campus, providing advice and guidance around careers, progression, and employability. You will often find her in the dedicated careers office in Fal library or on the end of a team’s call helping students with applications, CV’s and interview preparation.
Louise has worked for Truro College since 2012 and in 2022 achieved her level 6 in Careers Guidance and Development, she said:
“The level 6 course has been invaluable in helping me understand how to motivate and support students into work, opportunities and further study and has given me insights into how best to empower and encourage them in their decision making.”
Speaking about her role, Louise said: “I really enjoy speaking to students, engaging with their enthusiasms and ideas and helping them boost their career confidence. I love helping students to realise how much they have to offer and present themselves fully.”
“Previously I have worked in customer service, process development, and complaint and dealing enquiry management within the financial industry. I really appreciated having a career break to raise my family and understand the feelings of students returning to work or study after a break.”
Louise’s advice is “New job roles and growing sectors locally and nationwide mean that career opportunities are ever changing, and it can be exciting to explore your ideas and options. I am here to help and always remember that I offer post-graduate careers support for our Alumni for 3 years.”
