Name: Sennen
Previous school: Penair School
Course studying: Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism
Sennen always had a passion for the travel and tourism industry, and enrolling on the Level 3 Travel and Tourism course at Truro College confirmed she was on the right path. She commented: “My favourite part about my course would have to be learning all about the travel and tourism industry. I especially loved the units on cruise and cabin crew—they really helped me realise how much I want a career in this industry.”
Sennen chose Truro College after hearing consistently positive feedback, confident it would be the right fit for her both academically and socially. She added: “I have only ever heard great things about the College and knew I would fit in perfectly.”
Her time at college was not just about academic development—it was also about friendships, confidence, and building strong relationships with her lecturers: “Getting to know so many people and making lots of friends was a big part of the experience. Having a close relationship with my lecturers really helped me get through college. They’ve supported me every step of the way and pushed me to achieve grades I never thought I’d get.”
Sennen’s hard work paid off in a big way when she received a life-changing phone call—she’d secured a job at Newquay Airport, a huge step toward her dream career. She mentioned: “When I got the call saying I’d got the job, I had absolutely no words. I was so happy and proud of myself. This is the career I want, and to be part of it at such a young age makes me so excited for the future.”
Sennen discovered the opportunity through her college, where a lecturer shared the job link. The straightforward application process—reading the job details on Newquay Airport’s website, completing a form, and submitting her CV and cover letter—was made easier thanks to the college’s support. Now preparing to begin her new role, Sennen is excited to grow professionally and meet new people who will help her continue working toward her dream career in travel and tourism.
