Truro College
Truro College, on the outskirts of Truro, is a lively and large campus which hosts a wide range of courses and advanced facilities.
13 buildings across the campus are home to many courses and industry-standard learning environments, from occupational courses such as Automotive, Construction, Hair & Beauty and Hospitality, to A Level and Diploma subjects such as Science, Performing Arts, Media Studies, Art & Design and many more!
If you want to study outside of A Levels and Diplomas, Truro College also offers Apprenticeships and the internationally recognised International Baccalaureate as alternatives. Truro and Penwith College is also Cornwall’s only provider of the new T Level qualification, which you can read about in another guide on our website. The Fal building is home to the University Centre Truro & Penwith offering over 40 Higher Education subjects in more than 10 subject areas including Nursing, Computing, Media and Photography, Humanities and much more.
Truro College is home to a plethora of bespoke, state-of-the-art facilities, including the £7.3 million Institute of Technology Valency building, which houses a huge workshop full of industry-standard equipment for future Engineers along with high-tech Digital suites. Hi-tech Electric Vehicle Labs prepare Automotive students for future employment while Inspiration Salon allows Hair & Beauty students to hone their skills offering their services to paying customers.
Creative juices flow in a huge range of photography studios, 3D printing facilities, music production technology and performing arts theatres, while new Science labs help students explore the world around us and beyond, and that’s just the start! No matter which course you choose at Truro College, you will be working with expert lecturers and the latest high-tech facilities.
You can grab a bite to eat on the Truro campus in the Kenwyn, Helford, Mylor and Seaton buildings, some of which offer Starbucks cafes. Penwith College
Penwith College in Penzance has a close-knit, energetic student atmosphere and incorporates historic buildings with innovative facilities for all learners. With stunning views over Mounts Bay, students at Penwith benefit from a unique and personal experience.
Facilities at Penwith College include cutting-edge video games labs, the Inspiration Salon where Hair & Beauty students deliver services to paying clients, sports halls, the latest artificial sports pitches, Senara, the UK’s Best College restaurant at the 2022 AA Hospitality Awards, and much more.
Penwith College is ideal for those who want to experience a nationally leading college in West Cornwall with access to state-of-the-art facilities and industry-expert lecturers. There are courses exclusive to Penwith that you won’t find at Truro College such as Painting and Decorating Diplomas, Information Technology Level 3 Diploma, Music Performance & Production Level 3 Diploma and Philosophy of Religion & Ethics to name a few.
The University Centre Truro & Penwith also delivers Higher Education courses in the Penberth building. HNC/HND Fine Art is exclusive to the Penwith campus with the location perfect to get creative juices flowing, along with the brand-new FdSc Health & Wellbeing that is also only found at Penwith.
With a huge choice of A Levels, T Levels, full-time Vocational qualifications and Apprenticeships with local employers, Penwith is the perfect place to study and grow in West Cornwall.
You can enjoy food with friends in the Zennor and Porthcurno buildings, which offer reasonably priced meals and snacks. You can also visit the nationally-leading training restaurant Senara to try the culinary delights created by fellow students. Tregye Campus
The Tregye campus in Carnon Downs consists of a Grade 2 listed manor house surrounded by purpose-built facilities in the Cornish countryside. The campus is a calm learning environment that encourages reflective and creative practice and is home to the intensive one-year Foundation Diploma in Art and Design from the University Centre Truro & Penwith, which allows learners to try their hand at a wide range of Art & Design techniques and disciplines in order to unlock their creative potential.
The College’s range of seminars for adult Career and Professional Development also take place at Tregye, along with a full suite of Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) qualifications from Level 2 – 7, coaching Cornwall’s budding supervisors and senior leaders through their management journey.
The campus is recognised as a Centre of Excellence by City and Guilds thanks to levels of learner success on Institute of Leadership and Management qualifications.
STEM and Health Skills Centre
The newest addition to Truro and Penwith College’s campuses is the multi-million-pound STEM and Health Skills Centre in Bodmin, serving North and East Cornwall. The campus is purpose-built for a wide range of STEM and Health subjects and has facilities such as Nursing Simulation suites that train the future of Cornwall’s NHS, Care environments, state-of-the-art Engineering workshops, IT suites and the latest technology incorporated in its teaching rooms. With courses for school leavers as well as University-level students and Career & Professional Development for adults, there is something to suit a wide-range of students interested in STEM and Health skills.
The STEM and Health Skills Centre has strong connections with local employers such as Wildanet, Imerys and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to name a few, helping students get into STEM and Healthcare careers straight after college.
