Skills Bootcamps in Digital and Technical careers

Truro and Penwith College is working in partnership with Train4Tomorrow to offer free, high quality, digital and technical training to employed and unemployed adults.

What is a Skills Bootcamp?

Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses at Level 3 and above, lasting up to 16 weeks; giving people the opportunity to build specific-sector skills and fast-track to a job interview with a local employer.

This training is designed by employers in industry to meet their open and live vacancies. 

The programme, funded through the National Skills Fund as part of the Government’s Plan for Jobs, includes a range of digital and technical Skills Bootcamps that have been designed to help local people advance or pivot their skills towards growing sectors that are resilient to the current economic downturn.

The College is currently offering Skills Bootcamps in Digital and Technical careers, with start dates in October and January. The first date of each Skills Bootcamp be an Introduction and Assessment Session to provide further information on the programme and to check learner suitability.

Skills Bootcamps in Digital careers

Computer Programming

This 16-week Skills Bootcamp in Computer Programming is for people who wish to retrain to gain practical skills and knowledge in Programming and Software Development.

You will study a range of practical and theoretical subjects that will prepare you for progression onto an Apprenticeship, further study, or employment in this sector.

You will also experience employer talks to assist you with your progression into employment and your fast-track job interview on completion of the course.

Level: Three

Location: Truro College and online

Digital Marketing

This 12-week Skills Bootcamp in Digital Marketing is for people who wish to retrain or gain practical skills and knowledge in Digital Marketing.

You will study a range of practical and theoretical subjects that will prepare you for progressing to an Apprenticeship, further study, employment in this sector, or will help you gain the skill and knowledge to enable you to add Digital Marketing duties to your current role, including marketing planning, SEO, copywriting, Wordpress maintenance and website and social media analytics reporting.

You will also experience employer talks with industry specialists to enable you to progress within your current role or assist you with your progression into employment and your fast-track job interview on completion of the course.

Skills Bootcamps in Technical careers

Welding

This 10-week Skills Bootcamp in Welding, has been developed in collaboration with local employers and is offering all learners the opportunity to be assessed for a welding code certification worth up to £1,200 in addition to the training. The BS4872 (GMAW Mild Steel) welding code certifies competence in welding for maintenance and will give learners a strong foundation to start their career.

This course will be delivered in the College’s brand-new £7 million engineering and technology ‘Valency’ building, complete with cutting-edge welding and augmented reality welding facilities, and will combine a fully-funded training programme with employability skills and a guaranteed interview with a local employer.
