The further development of design skills and contextual research in a contemporary craft field will confidently facilitate entering the professional world as a silversmith or jewellery designer craftsperson. You will also have the opportunity to exhibit your work in several professional settings throughout the course to prepare you for a career within the industry.
Engaging in problem-solving assignments, you will take an energetic and creative research approach to a range of craft skills, materials and technologies to develop a high level of professional competence. Traditional craftsmanship will be explored in areas such as raising, planishing, box making, making settings and findings, setting stones and researching new technologies.
On successful completion of this course, you will have a strong sense of personal practice and style as well as an understanding of your own work in relation to contemporary and historical contexts and styles.
