Adam Nicholls

Apprentice at Cornwall Council

Adam Nicholls, 20, Digital Marketing Apprentice at Cornwall Council, studied Journalism at University and decided the Apprenticeship route would give him the practical experience needed to start his career.

Adams parents both work at Cornwall Council and made him aware of the Apprenticeship opportunities available within the organisation. Since spotting the Digital Marketing vacancy and the opportunity to train at Truro and Penwith College Adam hasn’t looked back:

“If I’d known about Apprenticeships before going to University, I would have definitely gone down that route; you get the best of both worlds through learning and getting practical hands-on experience.”

Adam’s greatest achievements include voiceover work for a corporate film shown at an economic growth event at the Eden Project and planning work for the Council’s garden waste marketing strategy.

“There is no such thing as an average week, every day is always different,” Adam said. “My main priority is social media, however my roles and responsibilities are very varied which means my skills are improving in various areas all the time.”

When Adam finishes his Apprenticeship, his aim is to continue working at the Council and use what he’s learnt from his Apprenticeship to continue building his skills as a qualified marketing professional.
