Daniel won Engineering and Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year as well as overall Apprentice of the Year at the 2018 Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards.

At the beginning of his Apprenticeship Daniel was achieving pass and merit grades in his assessments but was sure he could do better. He was so determined to do so that he went on to achieve distinction grades in all subsequent assessments. Daniel is extremely passionate about his learning and is always eager to develop his understanding. Daniel has modified one of the fixtures in the Machine Shop, using a 3D printer to attach extra fixtures meaning 16 housing can be heat-treated in 30 minutes, rather than just 5. Daniel is also a regular ambassador for Watson-Marlow at its STEM events, confidently engaging with pupils at the school. Daniel is innovative in his approch to problem-solving and is always looking for opportunities to grow as an engineer, and all managers have commented on his extremely positive attitude. He is a clear example of someone with a passion for engineering.
