Luke Ellis joined the team at Inkfish, Truro, as a Level 2 Apprentice. After successfully completing the Level 2 qualification, he was offered the opportunity to continue working at Inkfish and to progress onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Luke chose the Apprenticeship route as he believed learning in a real working environment would be the best way of developing the skills needed for a career in hairdressing:
“My clients are real people and the people I work with are in a real working environment. This means what I’m learning is up to date depending on what’s popular and what people want,” Luke said.
Not only has Luke developed skills within hairdressing, but he has also learnt key communication skills and improved his confidence when dealing with administration tasks such as answering calls, greeting clients and arranging appointments.
“I love how each client is different and the particular style they want will always be unique.”
“I have stayed with Inkfish throughout each level of my Apprenticeship, and despite my aim to own my own salon one day, I hope to stay with them for to foreseeable future, as they have given me a solid foundation to build my career,” Luke said.
